Workplace wellness workshops to combat stress and burnout
Recent research on stress, burnout and wellness at work has some worrying findings. 1 in 5 UK adults have taken time off work due to stress in the last year, and sickness absence in the UK at its highest level in a decade.
But that study wasn’t all doom and gloom. Having a healthy work-life balance, and a supportive work environment – including supportive line managers, colleagues and peers – were identified as the top antidotes to workplace stress and burnout. And one of our most in-demand experts at Elevate believes that JOY in your workplace is a big part of the answer!
Holistic workplace wellness workshops
And that’s why we’re so excited to work with Niamh Moynihan, founder of Better Workday. Motivated by her own personal experiences with burnout, Niamh created a series of workshops to help businesses create more balanced and thriving workplaces. Recently accredited as a Business All-Star by the All-Ireland Business Foundation, she’s also one of Elevate’s most in-demand workplace wellness experts! Her education courses and resources are dedicated to enhancing work-life balance and bringing the joy back into work.
She’s known for her engaging workshops, courses, keynotes, and online sessions that transform how professionals approach their workday. In fact, she’s helped over 3,000 employees to date!
Why is a holistic workplace wellness approach needed?
There’s a massive amount of research showing that better employee wellbeing leads to a healthier workforce and higher engagement. And it’s not new information! In fact, one of the most notable was a Gallup poll back in 2015. This found that workers with high wellbeing were: “less likely to miss work because of poor health, less likely to change employers, and more likely to report ‘excellent’ performance in their role at work.”
As a society, we’re still seeing the effects of the pandemic. Alongside all the health concerns, employees suddenly started questioning, en masse, whether prioritising work above all else was right for them. There was a sharp uptick in the need for workplace wellness support. And this has continued after the pandemic as global events, financial pressures and other concerns loomed alongside COVID as stressors. Many see mental wellbeing support needs increasing still further in the future.
In addition, the shift to remote-working during the pandemic created a new landscape for employers and employees. Data from 2019 shows that, prior to the Covid pandemic, just 4.7% of UK employees worked from home. However, the latest data from the ONS shows that 40% of people now work from home all or some of the time. A huge shift in a short period of time!
While this has increased flexibility and allowed many people to realign their life to their priorities, there are negative flipsides. One is that hybrid working reduces the sense of workplace community. Which, as we highlighted earlier, is one of the key indicators of employee wellness!
Introducing the Lunch and Learn series
This is one of the big reasons we’re so excited to be working with Niamh. She’s created a series of webinars, delivered over 6 sessions. They’re designed to start the conversation about some of these topical workplace wellness issues. From the loneliness caused by hybrid working, to the challenges and benefits of working within a multi-generational team. The series will better equip your employees to find wellbeing and balance in their current role.
Built around what YOUR organisation needs
As with everything we do here at Elevate, these sessions are built around the needs of your business. Before you start, you’ll have an assessment meeting with Niamh. Then, your organisation will complete the Workday Index survey. This gives a detailed view of your workforce’s biggest current concerns and workplace wellness challenges – and allows you to craft a wellbeing series that truly meets your organisation’s needs.
It’s used for the A Better Workday and A Better Leader whole-day workshops, as well as the webinar series and all bespoke offerings.
