Introducing our Addiction First Aid Training
We’re proud to announce another first for the UK – our course on Addiction First Aid. This course follows the success of our Mental Health First Aid training and takes a similar format. We’ve partnered with addiction specialist Shahroo Izadi to create this course, empowering your employees to confidently offer support to colleagues experiencing addiction.
It’s estimated that alcohol abuse alone costs the UK economy £27bn a year and drug use an additional £15bn.
Aside from the painful reality of living with an addiction for employees, substance abuse has a real impact on businesses:
- 70% of substance abusers are in full time employment.
- 1 in 10 small business owners report an employee showing up for work under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- 40% of all industrial accidents are related to substance misuse.
- Employers lose £7.3 billion to lost productivity, absenteeism and accidents caused by alcohol every year, with 17 million working days lost to alcohol misuse.
Addiction First Aid training
Our Addiction First Aid training gives your employees the knowledge and skills to spot signs of a colleague experiencing addiction-related challenges, be confident in starting an effective conversation and signposting them to appropriate support.
